Editors: Qualifications and Responsibilities
Qualifications
Editors are selected based on their:
- Relevant academic and professional qualifications.
- Extensive experience within the journal’s subject scope.
- Proven track record of high-quality publications.
- Willingness to complete the editorial task on time.
Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, prompt, and impartial evaluation of all submitted manuscripts. The evaluation process is based on the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, quality, and contribution to the field. Decisions should be made solely based on the above, not on the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political beliefs.
Editors must avoid any circumstances that could lead to conflicts of interest, whether actual or perceived. They must also refrain from engaging in citation manipulation, such as pressuring authors to cite the editor’s publications.
Editors and the editorial office should not disclose any information regarding a manuscript to anyone outside the review process, except for authorized individuals such as reviewers and potential reviewers. Unpublished information, arguments, or interpretations disclosed in a manuscript may not be used in the editor’s own research without explicit consent from the authors.
Manuscripts submitted by the editors will be independently reviewed by at least two experts in the relevant field. Editors are required to address all reviewer comments and ensure that the revised manuscript complies with the reviewers’ suggestions before a final decision is made.
